What's the "Purpose"?

Here are some interesting quotes that I came across today that I wanted to share...

"I happen to know people who are followers of Christ in other religions." —Rick Warren

"I have known many people who believe in the Messiah of Jesus, regardless of what religion they are, because they believe in him. It's about a relationship, not a religion." —Rick Warren

"I thought, you know where people are moving in they probably need new houses of worships, temples, and synagogues, and churches, and stuff like that." —Rick Warren

"The church is bigger than any organization in the world. Then you add in Muslims, you add in Hindus, you add in all the different religions, and you use those houses of worship as distribution centers, not just for spiritual care but health care." —Rick Warren

"I could take you today to a million villages ... they got a church. Or they got a synagogue. They got something. They got a house of worship. The church is the biggest organization in the world.... And I came up with a thing called the P.E.A.C.E. Plan. When Jesus sent the disciples out, he said, 'When you go into a village, you find the man of peace.' Now this person doesn't have to be a Christian.... You find the person of peace, and then you begin to do the P.E.A.C.E. Plan ... Now why am I telling this to you? Because we're going public with it this next year in 2006.... And I believe it will change the world." —Rick Warren

Rick's first quote: Does that mean as a Christian I can also believe in Buddism and be Hindu as well?

#2 quote- I thought that if you believed that Jesus was the Messiah that you are called to a personal relationship with Jesus. There are tons of people that believe Christ existed, that doesn't make them believe he is "THE" Messiah in their eyes, Right?

#3quote- If we are believers shouldn't we be reaching those who are lost not worried about building building's that aren't typically associated with people who are believer's of Jesus? By doing that you do nothing but cause mass confusion among believer's and non believer's

#4- Yep he's right the church becoming the biggest organiztion in the world is true, that's why alot of mega churches are run just like a corporation. Church grounds are no longer that, they are termed to be a campus. Churches are for the spiritually sick, how can a believer of Islam minister to a Christian. As far as health care goes, does he want to turn our churches into medical clinics aw well? Who would sanction the laws governing what other healthcare institutions have to follow? Will they be bringing OSHA in?

#5 I give up! There is no sense to to this comment!

I have found that somethings Rick Warren says can be thought provoking and very sincere in wanting to see people have a closer walk with God. However, the comments above are way outh there.

Very well said. I've read some of his interviews and some are thought provoking, some are borderline in that there is a lot of sugarcoating and truth-dodging and some are blatently wrong.

That being said, only God knows his heart and that's fine with me, but that doesn't stop us from being good Bereans.

This is some crazy stuff and for the life of me I cannot understand why people in mass droves do not see him as the false teacher that he is.
I just read a quote of his where he said that “In fact , I don’t think evil and sin are the same thing…” UH WHAT????? Now how can a man be a pastor and not be able to define evil and corrolate it with sin, yet he goes on to say that (I am paraphrasing) "sin must spread(like caner) in order for it to be evil" AGAIN...UH WHAT??????
Let's go Golden Oldy, anybody remember Mr. Rogers Neighborhood? The word for today boys and girls is "HERESY" can you say "HERESY" I thought you could.
