What's In A Name?

In doing some reading recently, I ran across something that piqued my interest. I've heard in the past that Bono had made some interesting comments when he was knighted earlier this year.

I went to You Tube to do a search for his comments. Bono, in his interview jokingly says not to call him "Sir". He jokes instead that he could be called "Lord of Lords" or a demi-god. (Check the link below)

Rev 19:16, when referring to Jesus, states that "And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."" Clearly there is only one Lord of Lords.

Dictionary.com defines a demigod as "a mythological being who is partly divine and partly human; an inferior deity."

Hmmmm... maybe this will be a wake-up call for those churches who chose to utilize his music and hold him up as an example.

Does he do humanitarian work and have good deeds? Yes, but so do the Mormons and other organizations. May we as the body of Christ wake up and return to God-honoring, Christ-centered worship and away from man-centered ways.

In light of his comments, it sounds like Bono, still hasn't found what he's looking for.

Because Truth matters,
George

While Bono may not have found what he should be looking for. I do believe he has found something else. A ggrand spotlight on thy self.
The statement just proves that Bono is all about Bono. Don't pretend to even be humbled that you have been honored. I don't care if you say it jokingly or not,it was tasteless. Then again I retract that because I am human. I'm sure he's gonna need to have to explain one to God.
...Well you see God, it just sort of slipped out....yeah right

I know. It was very disheartening to hear about this, especially with a lot of churches, who think that they preach the Word and are Biblically sound, while all the while, they water down the Word, dumb down the sermon and turn the "worship" of God into an "experience" for the "unchurched".

While nicely stated and true. I will take it one step farther. Churches today are turning in to concerts. We are making people Hippy Christians. Are they even Christians at all? Who takes the time to ask the important questions? What's worse is that some churches are blind to the fact that they are becoming the world inside a building on Sunday morning's and Wednesday nights. Christian's coming out of those churches are no better from the time they went in. Stylistically they are breaking down barriers, but they sure aren't building up Christ honoring people. Once again we preach it's all about God, but in reality the chruches are showing the me, me, and more me mentality. It's all about me
